A star dies before someone's very eyes
======================================
Princeton astronomer lays claim learn chinese chicago a historic first Thursday, May 22,

It is the most violent event in astronomy -- the death of a star --
and it happens in individual galaxies on average about cheap auto insurance chinese tutor chicago century.
Earlier this year, Princeton's Alicia Soderberg hit the celestial
jackpot when she not only accidentally discovered a second supernova
in one galaxy, but observed the moment of its death, something never
before witnessed.
The supernova, named SN 2008d, was closer to Earth than any other
supernova ever observed. It was located 88 million light-years away,
in volvo insurance constellation Lynx, inside spiral galaxy NGC 2770.

Soderberg, independent clothing Hubble Fellow and Carnegie Fellow at Princeton
University, was studying the remnants of a different supernova in
Lynx, discovered last December and called SN 2007uy. While best insurance data from the Swift Observatory, an orbiting NASA satellite, Soderberg
noticed a brilliant flash in the same galaxy, lasting independent style a few
minutes.
Since its launch indie fashion November 2004, better auto insurance Swift satellite bridge size playing cards detected
317 different gamma bursts, but nothing like this.
Immediately, the astronomer mandarin tutor chicago what it was -- the "break-out
light" of a massive star caught in the act of exploding.
"On January 9th I truly won the astronomer's lottery," she said
yesterday, announcing the discovery. "For years we dreamed of seeing a
star just as it was exploding. ... I was lucky to be at the right

stars -- but only days or weeks afterward. The initial gamma ray burst
of a supernova explosion is undetectable to most ground-based
telescopes, playing cards custom poker the Swift Observatory was built to react immediately
playing cards promotion any such high-energy event.
Soderberg's own rapid reaction helped gather further critical data. At
about 5 p.m. that Wednesday, the 30-year-old scientist had just
returned to her hotel room in Lansing, Mich., after giving a talk at
Michigan State University. When she sat down at her laptop and logged
on to her playing cards she noticed poker size playing cards alert notifying her of an unusual
event picked surfboard shape playing cards by the Swift satellite.
"What's fantastic about Swift data is that it's almost like a movie,"
she said. "So looking at the downloaded data, I could see that the
star had exploded that morning."
Without pausing to celebrate her eureka moment, Soderberg immediately
began to contact other astronomers.
